Research Academy for Undergraduates — October 7-12, 2008
COEP / IITK /
RPI
In a world where nations are becoming increasingly interdependent, it is important for students to develop skills that will help them succeed as technology and business leaders within a global context. Rensselaer, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and College of Engineering, Pune will conduct a research academy that will bring together a select group of talented undergraduates from their respective institutions in a collaborative learning and interchange environment. The focus would not only be on learning about contemporary research issues but also to promote a greater understanding of the cultural context in which Indian and US students learn and develop.
Three focal areas of research have been identified around which the Academy will be structured. The Academy will consist of structured seminars and discussions in each of the key areas, led by faculty members from the participating institutions. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to present the results of their independent work to all of their peers and to the faculty advisors. The Academy will be of one-week duration, and in addition to the technical discussions and presentations, will also allow for social and cultural interchange.
